Indian Railways to set up a modern coach factory in Latur

Indian Railways is planning to set up a modern coach factory in backward region of Latur in Maharashtra. It will invest over ₹ 5000 million towards the project and it has completed all tender formalities.

The state government has allotted 450 acres of land for the project. The new plant will produce over 1500 coaches in phase I and over 3000 coaches in coming years. There are plans to build metro rail coaches as well. The state government has also reserved another 450 acres of land for ancillary industries as well to set up a rail park like Rae Bareilly.
