Bharat Electronics Ltd Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) was established at Bangalore, India, by the Government of India under the Ministry of Defence in 1954 to meet the specialised electronic needs of the Indian defence services. Over the years, it has grown into a multi-product, multi-technology, multi-unit company serving the needs of customers in diverse fields in India and abroad.BEL offers contract-manufacturing services for both domestic and international customers. It has automated assembly, inspection and testing facilities as also precision machining capabilities.

In February 2018, planning to set up a 10 MLD (million litres per day) sewage treatment plant to rejuvenate the Doddabommasandra Lake in Bengaluru at a cost of ?13.5 crore. The activity is a part of corporate social responsibility scheme . In June 2018, the company had set up a 16 MW grid-connected Solar Power Plant at Heavy Vehicles Factory in Avadi in Chennai. It was set up with an investment of Rs. 1050 million.
