About the Company :
Energy Development Company Limited (EDCL) is an India-based company. The company is engaged in the business of generation of electricity. It is focused on development of small hydro power projects, wind mills and infrastructure related contracts. EDCL operates in two segments: Generation Division and Contract Division.
The Company’s Contract Division is engaged in infrastructure-related projects, such as roads, power plants, bridges and consultancy services. Its project includes nine mega watts Harangi hydro electric power project in Karnataka. EDCL’s wind mills include 1.5 mega watts mills at Hassan District and Chitradurga in Karnataka. During the fiscal year ended March 31, 2010 (fiscal 2010), it generated 27.38 and 5.82 million units of saleable electricity from its hydel power plants and wind mills, respectively. On May 28, 2009, EDCL acquired EDCL Power Projects Limited. In March 2011, the Company formed a 100% subsidiary Company, EDCL (Europe) Ltd.
